Lakeside Improvement Association oversees garbage pickup in the neighborhood. * Back door trash pickup is on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Trash, including grass clippings and yard items should not be placed by the curb before 6:00 p.m. the night before pickup. Items other than usual household or lawn waste should be put out on Friday when the trash volume is lower. Receptacles should be removed from street view no later than 10:00 p.m. the day of collection.

Trash and Recycling will not be picked up should our collection day fall on one of the following holidays: New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day; service will resume on the next scheduled collection day.

  • Time:

    • Have waste ready for collection no later than 5:00 am

  • Household Garbage:

    • Waste must be placed in bags or containers no larger than 95-gallons.

    • Containers smaller than 20 gallons or containers that are not built specifically to be used as a trash can will be disposed of

    • Cans or bags cannot exceed 50 pounds

    • Drums and barrels are not allowed and will be disposed of

  • Heavy Trash:

    • Two heavy items collected EVERY service day

    • Heavy trash/bulk waste includes waste that is not generated on a regular basis, including:

      • Furniture (couch, table, mattress, box spring, desk, dresser, etc.)

      • Appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc.)

      • Refrigerators and Freezers must be drained of Freon and have a bill to validate such service was performed.

      • Hot Water Heaters

      • Fencing/Decking/Siding (please remove nails, cut into lengths 4′ or less, and tie and bundle under 50 pounds, limit eight bundles per service day)

      • Trampolines (broken down, please place metal with recycling if possible)

      • Basketball goals (broken down into sections 4′ or shorter, no concrete in base or poles)

      • Carpeting/Flooring (please cut into lengths 4′ or shorter and tie and bundle under 50 pounds, limit eight bundles per service day)

  • Yard Waste

    • Place grass clippings in cans or bags under 50 pounds.  Limit eight bags of yard waste per service day.

    • Branches should be placed in CLEAR, INDIVIDUAL piles measuring no larger than 3′ x 3′ x 3′, tied, bundled, and under 50 pounds. Branches should measure no more than 6” in diameter to avoid damage to our equipment. Limit eight bundles per service day.

    • Excess yard waste (more than eight bags or eight bundles) is considered a pay pile.  Click here for more information.

RECYCLING

     Recycling is available at no additional charge as part of the neighborhood trash service. Texas Pride will pick up recyclables from any bin, bag, box or container clearly labeled "RECYCLE."  You may purchase additional 18-gallon bins from Texas Pride for $12 plus tax. Larger bins are also available for sale.

     Curbside pick-up is every Tuesday and you must have your bin(s) at the curb by 7 a.m. but do not put your recycling out before 6 p.m. on Monday evening.  Sorting is not necessary. Receptacles should be removed from street view no later than 10 p.m. the day of collection.

 

Accepted Material

  • Paper: Newspaper, junk mail, magazines, envelopes, catalogs, file folders, computer paper, construction paper, gift wrap, grocery bags, soda/beer boxes, shoe boxes, cardboard boxes, egg cartons, phone books, paper towel rolls, and wax-board containers.

  • Plastics: Plastics numbered 1-7 excluding Styrofoam. Includes jugs, bottles, bags, containers and clean kitchenware.

  • Metals: Aluminum and tin cans (soda, juice, canned food, etc.), aluminum foil, pie trays, metal jar lids, pots and pans, and light scrap metal.

  • Glass: Bottles (beer, wine, soda, etc.) and jars.

 

These materials are ineligible for recycling and Texas Pride will NOT pick them up: Styrofoam, windows, ceramics, dishes, air filters, soiled pizza boxes, used paper towels and light bulbs.

GREEN STAR RECYCLING (formerly Vista Fibers) located at 1200 Brittmore, Houston, 77043 is an alternative place to drop off boxes should you not want the visual of what electronics/appliances/valuables could be inside your home.
